The middle school gifted students attended this year's Middle School Eco Challenge on 9/27. Students rotated between learning stations related to pollinators, water quality, and exploring the conservatory. Students were able to test the lagoon water at Phipps for both dissolved oxygen content and pH level. Students learned about special categories of insects including pollinators, true bugs, and arthropods. After learning about these insects, students visited the outdoor garden to search for and identify these insects. It was a great day to be a Hiller learning more about the natural world around us! 4th and 5th grade students explored Phipps Conservatory on 9/26 during this year's Elementary Eco Challenge. Students rotated between three learning stations: "Pollinator Paradise," "Phipps Scavenger Hunt," and "Water Wonders.” Students were able to learn about dissolved oxygen content, how to measure PH levels, and explored pollinators in the outdoor garden. |
