Gifted students traveled to the Pittsburgh Public Theater to perform in the 25th annual Shakespeare Monologue & Scene Contest! Prior to participating, students selected a scene or monologue from one of Shakespeare’s many plays to study, analyze, practice, and memorize. They performed their selection in front of judges. The top 10 performers will advance to the Showcase of Finalists on February 18th. Results will be announced on the Public Theater's website on February 15. Fourth and fifth grade gifted students participated in the Wild Investigations program at the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium. The students listened to a presentation called “One Degree of Change” which centered on how small changes can have a big impact on our environment. They even met a Barn Owl and an American Alligator during the presentation! The students then formed teams and set out on a scavenger hunt through the zoo and aquarium. Students had to answer questions about the animals, their habitats, and adaptations. The students had a great day learning more about science! |
