The fourth and fifth grade gifted students read The Wright 3 by Blue Balliett this year. As an extension, they learned about the life and work of Frank Lloyd Wright, including his famous home, Fallingwater. We partnered with the gifted programs at McGuffey and Chartiers-Houston and planned a trip to Fallingwater along with a hands-on workshop. The trip was graciously funded through a grant! The students enjoyed learning about the history of the Kaufman family, for whom Fallingwater was built, along with the innovative mind of Frank Lloyd Wright. After the tour, students participated in a hands-on worksop focusing on the geometric principles that Frank Lloyd Wright applied to his designs. Comments are closed.
